Happy New Year (a day late)! I have been taking a bit of a creative break. Not a break from being creative but a short pause to allow my self to create. I have been reading blogs looking at fashion (mostly Japanese) and knitting some new designs. I will be releasing a few in January so if you want to receive a notification e-mail be sure to add yourself to my list.

Also don’t forget to link to your projects on Ravelry or on your blogs, this will give you a chance to win a free Amazon Stripe Beanie pattern and also a skein of Malabrigo yarn. You can see the details here.

Here are a few outfits I would like to add to my wardrobe…too bad overseas shipping is so pricy! Also I am going to try braiding my hair across the front like the girl in the picture. I will post photos of my attempts.

winter fashion

I managed to snap this  photo of my daughter, Fiona, in front of the Christmas tree wearing a headband I am working on. I might just let her keep it! Maybe this pattern will be sized for mother and daughter. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. I will try to get pictures of the snow to post at a later time. Now for relaxing and enjoying my family…and maybe some Pumpkin Pancakes…yum!

What you win:

So…I decided to offer them on my blog just in case someone wanted a last minute unique gift. If you are interested e-mail me at [email protected] and I will set up a reserved listing on Etsy. Shipping will depend on where you live but it shouldn’t be more than or so.

As for the rest of my life. I have three children that are very sick a ton of work to do before Christmas. I have a project in mind for the New Year. I have been wanting something to do with all my Malabrigo remnants so keep your eye out.

Introducing the fully knit version of my most popular pattern. The ruffle flower gives this trendy knit a BOHO feel. The pattern is versatile and includes directions for a larger flower. Being a mom with long hair (I have come to understand why this is a rare thing), I am always looking for options that let me wear my hair up while keeping my ears warm. Can I just say how thankful I am that head wraps, headbands, and ear warmers are IN! I have a few more in the mix so keep your eye out.

So it is our first Christmas staying at home which means I get to REALLY decorate! I got these amazing ornaments at JoAnn’s for 50% off. They look like murcury glass.

Then this wonderful woman named Maggie crocheted these beautiful snowflakes. She was selling them for a ridiculously low price and I wish I had bought more. She wasn’t willing to take more money for them because she just enjoyes making them. Each one is unique but I only grabbed a picture of a couple.

I will post more pictures as I get more decorations up. I recently ordered two skeins from SkeinYarns I waited a little while to get them because they were shipped over from New England Australia. Wow were they worth the wait! I love the colors and the wool/cashmere blend is SO soft! I am thinking of creating a new head wrap pattern with some color-working in it and I think I may use both of these yarns in it.

So the update on the Strictly Knit Flower Headwrap Earwarmer pattern it has almost finished the testing process sign up for the e-mail notification for when it is released. Or you can add me to your reader, I will do a blog post when it comes available.

So I have been meaning to post this link for a while. When I use the abbreviation M1 it can mean many different things. Here is a link in case you are wondering how I do my M1 for my different patterns.

Flower Headband Ear-warmer, Yummy Beret, Amazon Stripe – M1: I used loop cast on (in the middle of my work instead of at the edge)

Britta Lalena (Lacy) Headwrap – M1: I used the Left Increase. On the last stitch I grab the loop from below but it is kind of tricky as it is on the edge. Another option if you cannot figure this out is to Right Increase on the last stitch instead of Left Increase.

There are many ways to do a M1 and most of them will look the same but just in case you were curious as to what exactly I do…here you are. Happy Knitting!

Happy Thanksgiving! I know it is several days late but I was not at home. I visited my parents in San Diego and got to work at their coffee shop. I have missed working in a shop environment. Also all the girls who work in the shop are wearing either my flower headband ear warmers or the Britta Lalena headwrap. They look amazing in them OF COURSE!

So now that I am home I have been working on the STRICTLY KNIT Flower Headband Earwarmer. I tried to get some better photos outside but because of the two feet of snow it was a little difficult photographing myself. I had to go back to my old routine of taking the shots in a mirror inside. I will be sending the pattern off for test knitting soon and then it will be up.

I think the first photo could easily be in a yearbook under the senior portrait section…yuck! Thought I had escaped that part of my life. That is what you get with the cropped sensor, a 50mm, and close quarters. Anyway the second picture I like better. Perhaps because I look like I am escaping from the photo. If you are interested in receiving an e-mail notification when this pattern is released you can sign up for my mailing list in the colomn to the left of this post.

Lastly I thought I would include some fun photos of the icicles on the outside of our house.

So this is a better picture of my latte art. I am getting a little more practice time while at my parents. I will post some pictures of what I have been working on soon! This is a picture of my favorite drink. Lightly sweetened (with Agave) wet cappuccino.
